About Tip Calculator

Tipping customs vary by country and service type. A tip calculator applies a chosen percentage to a pre- or post-tax subtotal and can divide the total among diners.

CalculatorCamp helps you estimate gratuity and fair splits quickly after a meal or service. Currency selection is for display labeling only—no live exchange rates or payment processing.

This is not tax, legal, or financial advice. Follow local norms and employer policies.

How to use this tool

Enter bill amount, tip percentage, and number of people if splitting. Calculate to see tip, grand total, and per-person share.

Formula & methodology

This tip calculator applies the standard relationship below. Intermediate values are kept at full precision; only the displayed result is rounded.

tip = bill x (tip% / 100); total = bill + tip; per person = total / people

Worked example

A restaurant bill of 4,000 with a 15% tip shared by 4 people: tip = 4,000 × 0.15 = 600; total = 4,600; per person = 4,600 ÷ 4 = 1,150. Change the percentage to 18% or 20% to see how quickly the per-person figure moves.

Tips for accurate results

  • Confirm whether your group tips on pre-tax subtotal per local custom.
  • Round per-person totals to convenient cash denominations if paying separately.
  • Adjust tip for exceptional or poor service thoughtfully.
  • Currency dropdown does not convert money—enter amounts in your paid currency.
