Cups measure volume but recipes depend on weight, and every ingredient has a different density: a cup of all-purpose flour is about 120 g while a cup of granulated sugar is about 200 g. Converting with a single generic factor is the most common reason a recipe fails when it crosses the Atlantic.
Our baking converter uses per-ingredient densities drawn from widely used baking references, so you can scale a US recipe to a metric kitchen scale (or vice versa) with confidence. For plain liquid volume conversions, see the Volume converters.
